Brief About SEANAC

Our Aims

The main aims of SEANAC are;

  1. To promote analytical chemistry in the region through collaboration, research, research training, teaching and information sharing.
  2. To facilitate inventory, access, operation, maintenance and repairs of analytical equipment
  3. To collaborate with organisations of similar aims.

Strategies in place to achieve these aims include hosting of workshops and conference to disseminate analytical chemistry and to use it as an avenue for building research collaborations and develop training needs.

These meetings are also used to conduct needs assessments for the different regions on the continent hence allowing SEANAC to design appropriate interventions.

To create, develop, support and encourage innovative analytical chemistry solutions relevant to Africa.

To be a competent analytical chemistry network for sustainable development in Africa.

  • Professionalism
  • Integrity and ethics
  • Accountability and transparency
  • Effective and efficient resource stewardship
  • Commitment to global health and environment

Our Areas Of Focus

Building

  • We conduct workshops for capacity building in specific research areas in analytical techniques.
    • We offer training in analytical techniques for trainers, early analytical chemists as well as graduate students
    • We offer refresher courses to technical staff as well as those conducting the training in specific subject areas in analytical chemistry

collaboration
Collaborative projects amongst partner institutes

  • We coordinate partnerships between the SEANAC member institutes
    • We identify projects that represent common thematic areas for the region.
  • Areas identified are as follows but not limited to aspects of: Health, Food Security and Environmental monitoring

conference

  • The SEANAC conferences provide a platform for the interaction of African Analytical Chemists.
  • The conferences serve as a forum where African chemists interact with international analytical chemists experts in priority research fields for Africa.
  • The conferences facilitate the recognition of research efforts in Africa and the linkage of analytical chemists in the region and abroad.
