SEANAC Fellowships for 2008

Announcement

In the past 3 years, the African Network of Analytical Chemists (SEANAC) has awarded short term Fellowships for 3 months research stays within Africa for both students and senior academics. In 2008, it will award Fellowships to postgraduate students and postdoctoral scientists for a period not exceeding 4 months.

The SEANAC Fellowship will cover (a) transport costs (b) accommodation and living expenses (c) bench fees (d) a necessary chemicals/reagents purchase.  A separate application can be submitted for assistance towards repair of instrumentation or purchase of requisite spare part.

In the application/proposal, candidates are requested to clearly describe their planned project in not more than 2 pages of A4 size with font Times New Roman size 12. In the cover letter, it is expected that they will justify why they have to visit the particular laboratory, show that there has been some contact with the host scientist and also outline the research activities and anticipated outcome of their research.

Requirements:

  • All African chemists are eligible except citizens of Botswana and South Africa.
  • Proposal outlining activities  (Max 2 pages)

Deadline

The Deadline for Submission of Application following this announcement is May 30th, 2008. The successful candidates will be notified by e-mail correspondence soon thereafter and will be expected to start their fellowship within 2 months of offer.
